Debt help government /charity funded organisationsDebt is a huge problem in the UK. We live in a society where we are constantly bombarded as consumers, by clever marketing techniques, designed to make us feel we can easily cope with just a little bit more debt, that we deserve that new beautiful coat, or gorgeous car.....and we don’t need to worry about paying for it today.... Paying for goods “on the drip”, or “on the never-never” as some call it, has become the norm, resulting in more and more of us suddenly finding ourselves with debts that we can no longer cope with. Thousands in the UK today are faced with debt problems, and the stress that comes with it. There are however ways in which consumers can deal with their debts in a positive way. Credit counselling is the most obvious first choice for those who are overwhelmed by personal debt and just don’t know what to do next. Unfortunately lots of people bury their heads in the sand, and hope that their problems will somehow disappear on their own. Unfortunately, this tactic will only ever make the problems much worse. It is much better to face the debt problem head on, and see a counsellor as soon as we are aware that there is an issue. Sadly, in the UK, there remains a stigma attached to having large amounts of debt, and people do not on the whole find it easy to openly seek advice. The government debt advice departments support/fund four resources in the UK, offering debt management free impartial advice, to which people can turn when they feel their debt problems are spiralling out of control. They are charity based organisations, offering free debt help government funded in the main, and usually very good at giving sound advice on all issues surrounding debt problems. The government is so concerned about the level of debt in the UK, they have introduced a government debt advice website http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/index.htm offering a comprehensive guide to most financial problems. The site offers debt management government recommendations for coping with debt problems.
